Relative Secrets

Hi All,

Hope you’re all doing well and coping through this strange time?

Here at Worlds Beyond Pages, we’re committed to bringing you more book reviews of books that we have read over the past week or so and this is no exception to that rule. This time this is quite a different book that we would normally go for, but if there’s one thing that this strange time has taught everyone is that sometimes it is good to step out of your comfort zone and let something different guide you.

This book is absolutely one that will keep you guessing through and through as to what is actually going on and this will change throughout the book.

This brilliantly woven plot takes you on a journey of one family throughout time and how they have come to be what they are now and how happy they seem on the outside.

Relative Secrets Kindle Edition

📚“Mary has a secret that she mustn’t tell. But in a care home, with her mind wandering, she’s starting to slip up. Clearing out her grandmother’s old room, Lucy finds something hidden that wasn’t supposed to be found – a locket sheltering a shameful family secret.

She can’t tell her mother. Not with their father gone, one brother absent and another acting up. Her mother was struggling with her mental health just a few years ago. Lucy will have to make sense of it all herself.”📚

Relative Secrets Backcover

This is such an original plot and one that I was intrigued by right from the first chapter, this book really kept me hooked and for that I am so grateful!

Relative Secrets really brings home the fact that not every family may appear to be the way that they seem behind closed doors, and that no matter how perfect things seem to be there are always cracks in the surface.  The author also tells the story almost like two in one with the modern day family members in one chapter and then the family members that were struggling post-war in the other alternative chapters, so the reader gets to see both sides of the story whilst they are going through the book piecing everything together that Lucy finds out about her family.

Please let know what you thought to this book if you do decide to read it, as we would be very intrigued to see what you all thought of it too.

Much Love
